Opere Fantastiche

MM Company designs "Opere Fantastiche" (Fantastic Works) for the Matteo Pala brand: a capsule collection of four carpets to hang, as if they were real works of art. The new collection, which continues the aesthetic project of the previous collection "Prospettive Fantastiche" (Fantastic Perspectives), is inspired by the two-dimensional pencil sketches made by an architect while writing down design ideas during a phone call. Contarina, Anafesta, Foscara and Alvisia are the four models in the collection, which celebrates Venice on the occasion of its 1600th anniversary in 2021. Compositions of "fantastic" volumes that conceptually recall the architectural styles that characterise the "Serenissima" (as Venice was originally called). Even the names are a tribute to Venice, as they imaginatively take up the names of its most illustrious Doges (Heads of state).

Compositions constructed from perspective projections that are perfectly observable from all angles (the works can be hung in any of four positions). The Opere Fantastiche collection is available in a sophisticated and minimalist colour palette and a materiality given by different fleece heights: to accentuate the vanishing lines and the sense of depth: the closer we get to the centre, the shorter the fleece.
The result is a synthetic, rationalist composition, made up of independent elements, but linked by a single graphic sign.
The carpets are the result of a combination of creativity, materials and widespread know-how. Each item was in fact designed in the MM Company design office in Milan, then knotted entirely by hand by expert Indian craftsmen - who follow centuries-old techniques and use the finest quality materials such as New Zeland wool and silk - and then presented in Matteo Pala's exclusive showroom in Vicenza, located in the evocative Villa Zileri.
